This interpretive panel serves as a caption for an interactive sculptural installation at the Muir Woods Visitor Center. I accommodate a large volume of text using color, line, and negative space, in order to achieve maximum legibility, while adhering to ADA standards.
This is a first draft banner created by a Park Ranger. My goal was to achieve playfulness and serenity with soft pastel hues.
I outlined each bird and sampled colors from the sculpture's varying wood stains. I modified certain tones and added an outline to differentiate each bird from another. In the final piece, I overlapped this graphic over a masked photo of the sculpture to maintain texture and create dimension.
